Papaya Fruit 4:1 Powdered Extract (Carica papaya) 10 kg (22 lbs): Q

Also called pawpaw. Used as a tea or decoction. Papaya leaf decoction is strongly astringent with an anti-parasitic and vermicidal action - that is, it is an antidote to Montezuma's Revenge. It can also be of profound use with chronic indigestion. Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal': 'The juice of the tree or an infusion of the leaves and fruit makes the toughest meat tender when rubbed with it or cooked in the leaves; if chickens and pigs are fed on the leaves it will make their flesh tender.' 'The leaves are used as a substitute for soap... The fresh leaves have been used as a dressing for foul wounds...' King's 1898 Dispensatory: 'The chief property of the milk of the carica is its action upon food, similar to that of pepsin, exercising, like this latter article, a digestive influence upon albuminoid substances. But the difficulty of procuring and preserving a sufficient amount of it for therapeutical use, together with its deeply irritating action, will prevent it from coming into use as a remedy for dyspepsia or gastric affections.' 'To overcome these obstacles, Dr. Mauriac instituted a series of experiments with the leaves of the tree, and found that a concentrated decoction of them exerted upon albuminoid substances an action analogous to that of the milky juice of the tree and of the green fruit, without any appreciable irritation of the gastric mucous membrane.' 'This decoction must be administered in small doses. Dr. Mauriac and others, however, prefer papain, the action of which does not appear to be interfered with by an acid or neutral condition of the stomach, and which, being more energetic than pepsin, must be given in smaller doses, and in aqueous solution. Papain has been used in atonic and fermentative dyspepsia, with painful acid eructations, flatulence, and constipation.' American Materia Medica, 1919 (Ellingwood): 'Where papoid or any form of pawpaw is used as a digestive agent, there may be observed an increase in the amount of uric acid when that substance is deficient, and if oxalates are present they are diminished.' 'It is a reliable remedy for general distress or pain in the stomach and bowels during the process of digestion. It can be prescribed almost without discrimination in these cases, and the results are in some cases surprising. It may be given during the meal, and pain not occur for an hour. At that time, its influence being probably spent, another dose will continue the effects of the first. Its effects become permanent usually in acute or subacute cases after a few days, when it may be discontinued.' 'It is a most valuable agent in catarrh of the stomach and in the digestive failure accompanying continued fevers. It stimulates the stomach in the beginning of convalescence, and in some cases increases the appetite and promotes absorption of the digested pabulum.' 'It is serviceable in the digestive disorders of pregnancy, stimulating appropriation and assimilation. In tho

Yucca Root 4:1 Powdered Extract (Yucca schidigera) 25 kg (55 lbs): Q

The steroid saponins in yucca root have both water-soluble and fat-soluble components, and so have a soap-like action when mixed with water. Native Americans of the Southwest used yucca as an anti-dandruff shampoo, as a poultice and bath for skin complaints, sores and wounds, as well as a soup or decoction for arthritis and rheumatism. A quarter ounce of the root boiled in a pint of water for 15 minutes produces three to five cups of decoction. Yucca has been on the GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) list with the US FDA since 1965. Yucca is approved for use in foods as a foaming agent (particularly in root beer). Yucca contains vitamins A, B-complex, C, Calcium, Potassium, Phosphorus, Iron, Manganese and Copper. Yucca saponins, when ingested in soup or decoction, seem to block release of toxins from the intestines that inhibit normal formation of cartilage. Since saponins are precursors of the body's own anitinflammatory cortisone, yucca may elevate the body's production of cortisone. Yucca's primary uses are in pain relieving combinations for arthritic and joint pain, and for sediment caused by inflammation such as gout, rheumatism, and cystitis. Keith Johnson, MD, editor of 'Turn Back the Clock' newsletter, states, 'Adding the yucca plant to your diet will act as a natural cortisone, and will wash out the harmful poisons that cause arthritis.' According to the late Robert Bingham, MD, director of the Desert Hot Springs Medical Clinic in Palm Springs, CA, yucca extract supplements can produce arthritis remissions. He supervised the use of yucca in thousands of patients. He told reporters, 'We have known for several years that a food supplement extracted from yucca acts like a natural form of cortisone, to reduce and eliminate the pain, swelling and joint stiffness suffered by arthritis victims.' Bingham goes on to explain, 'Toxic substances or harmful bacteria, when absorbed into the system, create allergic responses - anything from migraine to arthritis. Consequently, an anti-stress agent such as yucca saponin might have the same beneficial effect on wastes in the body and be effective in treating arthritis by improving and protecting the intestinal flora, rather than any direct action upon arthritis. 'Strong evidence supports the theory that some forms of arthritis may be caused or worsened by toxic substances occurring in the intestines and absorbed by the body. Yucca seems to inhibit these harmful intestinal bacteria and at the same time help the natural and normal forms of bacteria found in the tract.' Presenting the results of a placebo-controlled study on the effects of yucca, Dr. Bingham, in the Journal of Applied Nutrition(Vol.27,No.2 and No.3), reported that 60 percent of people who took the yucca supplements experienced diminished pain, swelling, and stiffness. There were no side-effects. Further, those who took the yucca extract supplement had lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and relie

Sources: Lemon (Citrus limon) and Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) Although bioflavonoids are not true vitamins, they are sometimes referred to as vitamin P, because they possess the healthful qualities of vitamins. Citrus Bioflavonoids are a class of flavonoids that includes rutin, hesperidin, quercetin, eriodictyl and citron, and they are essential for the absorption of vitamin C. Normally found in highly nutritious foods, such as citrus, nuts, fruits and plants, bioflavonoids must be supplied through the diet, because the body cannot produce them, and we should supply them to maximize good health! They are thought to boost vitamin C's efficacy, strengthen fragile capillaries, reduce cholesterol, improve blood circulation and act as antioxidants. Now you can take Citrus Bioflavonoid supplements as an easy and simple way to provide this natural source of sound health! Background: Bioflavonoids are not true vitamins in the strictest sense, sometimes being referred to as vitamin P, and may be found in herbal plants, fruits, nuts and bark; and because they cannot be manufactured by the body, they must be supplied through the diet. The letter ''P'' represents permeability factor, and it was given to this group of nutrients because they improve capillary strength and permeability. Citrus Bioflavonoids are a class of flavonoids that includes Rutin, Hesperidin, Quercitin, Eriodictyl and Citron, and they are essential for the absorption of vitamin C, which should be taken simultaneously, so they may act synergistically for maximum benefit. Citrus fruits are well known for providing ample amounts of vitamin C, but they also provide Citrus Bioflavonoids, which are located in the white material just beneath the peel of citrus fruits and may be found in grapefruits, lemons, tangerines, limes and oranges. Other sources of bioflavonoids include apricots, nuts, peppers, buckwheat, blackberries, black currants cherries, grapes, plums, prunes and rose hips. In addition, several herbs also provide bioflavonoids, including Chervil, Elderberry, Hawthorne Berry, Horsetail and Shepherd's Purse. Beneficial Uses: Citr

Other common names: Goose Grass, Grip Grass, Sticky Willy, Catch Weed, Bedstraw, Lady's Bedstraw Cleavers is considered one of the best cleansing tonics known that helps to rid the body of toxins and purify the blood, the lymphatic system and kidneys. It has been used to alleviate inflammatory urinary diseases, relieve swollen and enlarged lymph glands, expel stones and gravel, and generally help cleanse the system when the body is failing to rid itself of pollutants. History: Cleavers is one of several species of evergreen shrubs and trees that are native to Eurasia and the Americas with wide distribution worldwide. It is a weak-stemmed, sprawling annual that bears whorls of prickly, lance-shaped leaves on a square stem and small white flowers, which produce tiny, bristled fruits that often catch or cleave to passing animals, hence, earning the plant its name, Cleavers, and also its common name, Catch Weed. It is an ornamental plant that thrives in moist, well-drained, neutral-to-alkaline soil in shade and forms a dense, prickly mat over nearby plants, sometimes growing to a height of five feet. Cleavers' botanical name, Galium, is derived from the Greek word, gala, which means ''milk'' and is supposed to relate to the fact that the plant has the ability to curdle milk, which was beneficial in the making of cheese. The plants are cut when flowering, and the whole plant with seeds are used in herbal medicine. It is a relative of coffee, and when lightly roasted, it is used as a caffeine-free, coffee substitute, and it can be brewed into a refreshing tea with strong purifying tonic properties. Aside from Cleavers' medicinal uses as a cleanser for the lymph glands, kidneys and blood, the cooked shoots and young plants are considered a nourishing vegetable dish; in fact, in China, it is even considered a weight-reducing vegetable. When used commercially for non-medical purposes, a red dye can be extracted from the root and, perhaps, a more valuable application for Cleavers is its longtime use in cheese making, particularly in Cheshire, England, where some of the finest cheeses are made. The citric acid in the orange juice will help to mask any unpleasant powder tastes. Other common names: Common Club Moss, Vegetable Sulphur, Wolf's Claw, Stag's Horn Clubmoss, Muscus Terrestris Repens, Ground Pine Club Moss has been used for many years as an effective diuretic that eases many conditions associated with suppressed urine, including the flushing of stones and gravel from the kidneys and gallbladder, accumulation of fluids in the tissues that produce swelling (edema), bladder irritation, cystitis, gout and rheumatoid arthritis, and that's just the beginning. History: Club Moss is a moss-like evergreen plant with spores in club-shaped strobiles, and despite the name, it is not technically a moss, but rather, it is a plant allied to ferns. Like fern, it is flowerless and seedless and has true leaves, stems, and roots. Club Moss is a descendant of primitive plants that once dominated the Earth, growing nearly one hundred feet in height during the Carboniferous Era of about 360-286 million years ago. The vast amounts of Club Moss vegetation that decayed has greatly contributed to the coal deposits we know today. Modern Club Moss, which is a creeping plant, is much smaller in size, usually growing no higher than four inches or longer than ten feet and thrives in wet-to-moist, well-drained, loamy soils in woodlands, dappled shade, or even deep shade, in a humid atmosphere. Club Moss does not propagate by seeds, but rather by single-celled propagules, or spores, and the species herein described (L. clavatum) is a rather advanced vascular plant that has specialized fluid-conducting tissues and produces a cluster of strobiles at the shoot apex, which increase the number of spores that can be produced. Club Moss is found throughout the world, but the spores used for herbal medicines and commercial purposes are chiefly collected in Russia, Germany and Switzerland in July and August. The tops of the plants are cut when the spikes approach maturity, and the spores (yellow powder) are shaken out of the kidney-shaped capsules (or sporangia) that grow on the inner side of the bracts covering the fruit spike and are separated by a sieve. The whole plant was used by physicians of the

Try Papaya Fruit! Papaya contains papain, a remarkable, protein-dissolving enzyme that eases many stomach ailments and is an exceptional aid to digestion. A rich source of minerals and vitamins A, C and E, Papaya also breaks down wheat gluten, which may be of great help those with Celiac disease. History: Papaya is an herbaceous tree with a stem of spongy, soft wood that is hollow in the center and bears melon-like fruit. It is an interesting tree, in that the male and female parts exist in different trees, and trees may grow to a height of twenty to thirty feet. The Papaya Tree needs a tropical climate that is dry when cold and wet when warm; consequently, its greatest success appears in the equatorial zone with its warm wet season and cool dry season. It is extremely sensitive to frost, and water-logging will kill the taproot within forty-eight hours. The Papaya tree is especially susceptible to parasites, pests and diseases. This fussy plant needs a lot of water but must have good drainage, and it bears most fruit in light, porous, slightly acidic soils that are rich in organic matter. Said to be a native of the Caribbean and Central America, the Papaya is the true papaw that now grows abundantly throughout tropical America, Hawaii and many other tropical climates throughout the world. Although grown to some extent in south Florida, the true papaw is not related to the North American papaw. The fruits, leaves and latex are all used medicinally. The delicious fruit is usually pear-sized and has a central cavity filled with edible, pea-sized seeds. Generally, the fruit is melon-like, oval to nearly round, and the skin is waxy and thin but fairly tough. As the fruit ripens, it becomes yellow externally, and the thick wall of flesh becomes aromatic, yellow, orange or various shades of red. Papaya Fruit is eaten as a melon, included in salads and when unripe, it is cooked as a vegetable. The seeds are said to have a similar flavor as capers. The green fruit, stems and

The plant has been naturalized throughout temperate North America and may be found wild in fields, roadsides, lawns and waste places, thriving in well-drained soil in full sun and grows from one to two feet in height. Plantain produces a radial rosette of broad, oval leaves and a few densely flowered spikes of greenish-white to greenish-brown flowers that bloom from April to October. It is frequently called a common weed that will take over a lawn, destroying and replacing the grass that originally occupied the site, but it has been greatly valued since antiquity for it medicinal qualities. It grows better than most other plants in compacted soils, and is wind-pollinated and propagates primarily by seeds, which are held on the long, narrow spikes that rise above the foliage. The standard native English name is Greater Plantain, though it is also called Common Plantain in some areas where it is introduced, particularly North America. It was one of the nine sacred herbs mentioned in the Lacnunga, the most ancient source of Anglo-Saxon med

It is said to be a potent antiviral agent and has shown great promise in laboratory tests for possible use in herpes, HIV and AIDS treatments. History: Prunella is a creeping perennial that is native to Eurasia and grows throughout Europe and North America, where it may be found in damp meadows, pastures, waste places and on roadsides, thriving in moist, well-drained soil in sunny areas or light shade. It is a genus of seven harbaceous plants known as ''self-heals.'' When imported to North America and Australia, it quickly became naturalized as a common wildflower and abundant in open and exposed situations, tending to oust native flowers. It is a diminutive plant but will grow larger in all its parts when growing in more sheltered places. The main stem of the plant is grooved and rough to the touch and bears pointed oval leaves with dense, purple flower clusters (sometimes blue or pink). Prunella does not appear to have been known to the ancient Romans or Greeks, but it was mentioned in Chinese medical literature during the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.- A.D. 23) as an important herb in the treatment of complaints associated with a disturbed liver, high blood pressure and conjunctivitis. In Western medicine, it has always been regarded primarily as a wound herb, giving rise to many of its common names, Woundwort, etc. The name its botanical genus, Prunella, is derived from Brunellen, a name given to it by the Germans, because it rose to prominence when military physicians used it to treat a contagious fever that raged among the German imperial troops in 1547 and 1566, that was characterized by a sore throat and a brown-coated tongue. The fever was called ''the browns'' (brun is the German word for ''brown''). In John Gerard's Herball of 1597, he claime

Other common names: Raspberry Leaf, Bramble, Hindberry, Reapberry, Bramble of Mount Ida Red Raspberry is rich in minerals and vitamins that promote the health of hair, skin, nails, bones and teeth. It has an old reputation as a woman's friend that helps to tone the uterine muscles (particularly valuable during labor and delivery and recovery after birth). Moreover, Red Raspberry is said to provide relief for heavy cramping and excessive bleeding during menstruation. History: Red Raspberry is a deciduous bramble with perennial roots, native to many parts of Europe, but has wide distribution from the polar regions down through temperate North America, Europe and Asia, following higher elevations as it reaches the more southerly latitudes. Red Raspberry is a shrub with erect, spiny, woody, thorny stems (called canes) that bear irregularly-toothed, pale green leaves and pretty white flowers, followed by deep red fruit, and it may grow to a height of six feet. The berries are edible and highly nutritious, with a delicate, complex flavor. The brambles may be found growing wild in dry or moist woods, thickets, untended fields and roadsides, but prefers moist, slightly-acid, well-drained loam, rich in humus, in full sun or partial shade. Fossil evidence shows that Raspberries were part of the human diet from very early times, and their presence is noted as both a food and part of herbal medicine in the ancient writings of the Greeks, including Aeschylus (c.525-456 B.C.), and the physician, Hippocrates (460-357 B.C.). The Romans used Red Raspberry to treat sore mouths and inflammation of the bowel, and it was mentioned in the works of Propertius (c.50-16 B.C.). The leaves, bark and fruits are employed herbal medicine. It is said that early settlers brought Red Raspberry with them, but there was already a hardier variety growing in North America, where several Native Americans were using it as a food and in herbal remedies. Red Raspberry has been included for hundreds of years in folk medicine as an astringent and women's aid and was considered important enough to be listed in the United States Pha

Other Common Names: Apilak, Gelée Royale, Queen Bee Jelly Royal Jelly has been called the ''Crown Jewel'' of the beehive that has become extremely popular since the 1950s as a wonderful source of energy and stamina and the reason why the Queen Bee is so strong and enduring. It is also thought to be a great nutritional source of enzymes, proteins, sugars and amino acids, but there is no scientific proof to verify the supplement's efficacy for its use as an overall health tonic. You'll have to decide. History: Royal Jelly is a thick, milky material that is secreted from the hypopharyngea- salivary glands in the heads of the young nurse bees between the sixth and twelfth days of life, and when honey and pollen are combined and refined within the nurse bee, Royal Jelly is naturally created. While all larvae in a colony are fed Royal Jelly, it is the only food that is fed to the Queen Bee throughout her life; other adult bees do not consume it at all. All female eggs may produce a Queen Bee, but this occurs only when - during the whole development of the larvae - she is cared for and fed by this material - in large quantities. As a result of this special nutrition, the Queen develops reproductive organs (while the worker bee develops traits that relate only to work, i.e., stronger mandibles, brood food, wax glands and pollen baskets). The Queen develops in about fifteen days, while the workers require twenty-one; and finally, the Queen endures for several years, while workers survive only a few months. ''10-2 HDA,'' thought to be the principle active substance in Royal Jelly, makes the Queen Bee fifty percent larger than the other female worker bees and gives her incredible stamina, ovulation ability and longevity, living four to five years longer than worker bees who only live forty or more days. Perhaps this is the reason why so many positive qualities have been attributed to Royal Jelly as a truly rare gift of nature, but it should be noted that there is no clinical evidence to support the claims. There is even great controversy as to the constituents included in the supplement. Some say it
